Homeschool Coop

This week the host mama planned a play at the Y climber and a visit to the library. As soon as we got there Em ran off with her friend and cozied up with a book on the bean bag chair. Em was a little concerned that A can't read either she is definitely wanting to read more and more...she is starting to figure out there is a world she wants in on in these books! YAY unschooling rocks!

More sickies...

This is Em about 5 pm sleeping on the couch which NEVER happens! Too many 5:30 mornings and fighting off another bug. If you look close you can see Em is cuddled up with her cat Bear!

Unfortunately we couldn't cut our own tree this year since there is too much snow according to Poppa! So thankfully we didn't sell the artificial tree like we had planned on.

Renovations

Sorry I have been missing lately after a round of sickies we tackled the living room reno! Em was right in there working and painting like a pro! My after shots will be in the next post with the Christmas tree all set up! We worked hard (well hubby worked harder than the rest of us!) and completed this room in 3 days!

Wreck It Ralph

The City union puts on a family party at the theatre every year which is super special because we only go to the movies twice a year with this being one of those times and Em's birthday is the other time. This year it was Wreck It Ralph (I had very low expectations of this years film since last year was Happy Feet 2 and the worst movie I have had to suffer through in a very long time!) I was pleasantly surprised by how funny this movie was and Em sat fairly well through the whole thing. Then Santa visited and Em received a Littlest Pet Shop set which she immediately gathered the rest of her little pets to have a big party!

Glow Sticks

We have been fighting a lot of sickies around our house and staying in a lot with winter settled on us. So I pulled out the glow sticks for a bath one night! Em is so excited she barely paused for a pic before running up the stairs to jump in her bath.

Math

We have been down with a virus this week. Em was the first to come down with it so by the time she was bored I was sick... made for a long few days!

So last night we sat down with some math work. Em is not a repetitive kid she like to learn and move on so much like her older sister Mic. Makes for a slightly frustrated mama as she doesn't completely grasp a concept before wanting to move on. I learn more and more patience homeschooling this little one.

DAD is home!

And dad is off for the winter and we love having him home for now!

Trip to the air museum

We visited our local air museum. I love museums and as a kid used to spend summer afternoons hanging out at our town's museum. Over the years I have dragged all the kids to museums and every time I visit this museum I  have a deep appreciation for the hours of volunteer time that it take to run a museum of this size but the restoration amazes me! We had the chance to speak to a volunteer that was working on restoring one of the planes that he estimates will take 20 years to finish! Some of the pictures show the state of the planes when the museum acquired them and then the finished project is astounding!

 Then we hung out at the airport. A big Hercules plane was flying low waiting to land 

and we watched this plane fuel up!

Em was up with the flu all night so today was spent cuddling with her cat watching Netflix.

Then Em's big sister Micayla came to watch Grey Cup and brought her kitten for Em to play with...

We are currently reading Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic and we are both enjoying the poems!

and Em's current fav night stuffie is Garlic the Burmese Mountain Dog!

Art Gallery Tour

We are blessed to have an amazing art gallery in our small community The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba is a very open learning environment and provide us homeschoolers 

an afternoon of learning for only $3.25 per participant.

 Emersyn was so excited and we watched on the calendar for many weeks for our art gallery day!

I found the installation very fascinating and the artist spoke to my soul.

 Em was a little restless requesting a few times do start the art project. 

Although I caught her fascinated with the water pumped from the hand pumping.

I look forward to returning on Saturday when the artist in residence redoes this installation. And this time we will bring dad. I hope to have a chance to speak with the artist about earthships. 

 This display reminded me of my sister in law... 

inspired to make some of these beautiful butterflies to make a display at home.

 Next was some hands on fun!

The kids picked out some art from nature. There were pictures provided of blown up pictures of things like red blood cells!

 We cut and folded to make a kinetic origami!

A lot of talk about our energy making energy!

And of course Em makes it a horse game... and my laying down snowman turned into a snow horse!
